Essentially the core of VietThai is Vietnamese and Thai food, hence the name. However as you look into the menu, you would realize that the menu also incorporates Chinese techniques with these two cuisine, which result in some fusion creations too. Classics such as Thai green curry and Pad Thai is not forgotten, yet unique items such as french ox tail pot and baked tamarind tiger prawns is served. Ultimately, the food here is scrumptious and is authentically done, however their prices is a little on the ritzy side. My personal favorite was the Shrimp Pad Thai RM 20. What I did like about the pad thai was the overall taste, it was so authentic and flavorful, the sort of Pad Thai made by Thai mums. The noodles were so nicely stir fried with the special tamarind sauce, it was not soggy, and it had a very nice wok char taste to it too. Very nicely plated on a decorative hand painted plate with a layer of banana leaf, however the portion is a little on the stingy side. I was however heavily disappointed with the shrimp because it was over cooked, small and tough in texture, improvement on shrimp texture and size and I could easily admit this as the best pad thai I've ever had in KL. Also maybe a cut of fresh lime, fresh bean sprouts would be a nice addition to the dish as a side. I would also suggest the grilled lemongrass chicken chop for protein lovers, it is juicy, very flavorful, generously portion (1-2 person sharable) and served on a sizzling griddle on a bed of lemongrass RM 28. I liked the interior, it was modern meet traditional fusion of Thai - Vietnames and Chinese cultures, very warm and inviting, yet moderately elegant. There was an indoor and outdoor seating and both was very pleasant and classy. I think the service was commendable, service was prompt, friendly, and water was topped up through out the meal. Parking is a hassle to be honest even at night, this south side of TTDI is a parking nightmare, only street parking is available and it's so limited. Best suggestion, allocate 10-20 minutes for parking search, or park illegally on the side of the unmarked streets.
